RALLY AUSTRALIA INITIATIVE TO HELP
YOUNG DRIVERS IN TWEED AND KYOGLE
YOUNG people in Tweed and Kyogle shires will learn how to be safer drivers in a
special free initiative organised by Repco Rally Australia next week.
Participants are being sought for the CAMS Ignition Program, to be run at
Murwillumbah Showgrounds on Saturday 29 August and at the Kyogle Memorial
Institute Hall on Sunday 30 August.
Developed by the national motorsport governing body CAMS and training company
Murcotts Driving Excellence and supported by NRMA Motoring and Services, the
courses will be open to pre-learners, learners and P-plate drivers.
Parents also will be encouraged to participate.

Softly Softly is a photographic event
being run by 7th Generation, a non profit, environmentally focussed
organisation in the Kyogle area.
We are inviting members of the public to participate in a one or two
day opportunity to use a digital camera and to photograph local birds
and other animals.
On the weekend of Sat/Sun 5/6th September (Sunday - Fathers Day,
Monday Threatened Species Day)individuals and/or families are invited
to gather a camera (digital) and head into your backyard or a
playground, local parks, streams or the Border Ranges National Park and
to take photos of as many different local birds and other animals as
possible. It is a two day event but you are free to take photos for
just an hour or for the whole two days.

SPEED ON TWEED ENTRY LIST CLOSES
WITH LOCALS TO BATTLE VISITORS
ENTRIES for the
Festival of Speed on Tweed have closed with a full complement of drivers and
historic and classic racing cars ready to take to the Murwillumbah streets from
September 4 to 6.
Organisers have accepted 180 cars for the event, from a 1922 Essex raceabout to
a 2008 hillclimb special in what will again be an outstanding showcase of
motoring heritage and driving skills.
Event Manager Steve Brow said the number of entries had been capped this year
to ensure all entrants got value for money from their involvement and to fit in
with the logistics of Repco Rally Australia, with which Speed on Tweed will
share the challenging round-the-streets course in Murwillumbah.
“The quality of the entries highlights the continuing popularity of the event,
while the types of cars on show offer something for every racing enthusiast and
spectator,” Mr Brow said.
The Festival of Speed on Tweed pits historic and classic cars of all types and
some of Australia’s best drivers of several eras against the clock on a
one-kilometre closed public road course in the centre of Murwillumbah.

September 2009 the World Rally Championship will burst onto the scene
in the Tweed and Kyogle Shires of Northern New South Wales. This
overview map provides an outline of the areas the rally will take place
